2&, Audible Memories

2& was no less but very often more than the duo of Roddy Schrock and myself (the “more” being an assemblage of laptop computers, microphones, projectors, small acoustic instruments, and what seemed like miles of cables and extension cords). Our collaboration lasted the entire year of 2006, during which time we were artists-in-residence at Stanford University. We presented Audible Memories, an audio/video installation, to Stanford’s Department of Art and Art History after developing the project at California College of Arts, San Francisco. The installation, which ran for a week in both locations, visually prompted people to leave an audible memory. The video composed and recomposed itself based on the amount of audio data it received. At the end of the week, 2& created a performance using some of the memories captured by the installation.
